Lance Burchett and Nolan Adams, wide receivers from Clay County High School, were honored at the Middle Tennessee High School Sports Awards held recently at the Music City Center.

Both Burchett and Adams received nominations in the “Football Offense” category.

Lance Burchett, a senior, set a new program record for receiving yardage with 1,499 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was named Region 4-A’s Skill Player of the Year.

Nolan Adams broke the Bulldog single-season receiving touchdown record with 19 scores, accumulating 1,275 receiving yards. Adams was recognized as the league’s Offensive MVP.

Both players received statewide recognition for their football performance. Adams was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) and the Tennessee Football Coaches Association (TNFCA) All-State teams. Burchett also earned a spot on the TNFCA All-State team.

Beyond football, Burchett and Adams participated in other sports. Both were members of the Clay County High School basketball team during a 20-win season, with Burchett serving as a starting point guard. Adams also played baseball, having previously been named to a District 7-A All-Tournament Team and the regular season All-District 7-A Team, with documented instances of pitching complete games.

Ryan O’Reilly, captain and goalie for the Nashville Predators, was the guest speaker at the awards ceremony.
