The Clay County Fairgrounds in Celina is pleased to announce its upcoming Open Fun Horse Show, scheduled for Saturday, May 31 at 6 p.m. This event promises an engaging evening of equestrian competition and community entertainment, welcoming participants and spectators to experience a diverse array of classes.
The show's program is meticulously designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of equestrian disciplines and skill levels, while also incorporating lighthearted activities for broader appeal. The evening will commence with the whimsical Stick Horse Race, setting a convivial tone. This will be followed by traditional exhibition classes, including Lead Line for emerging equestrians, the objective evaluation of conformation in the Open Halter Class, and specialized riding disciplines such as Youth Western Pleasure, Saddle Horse Pleasure, Youth Ranch Pleasure, Open Western Pleasure, Flat Shod and Open Ranch Pleasure.
In a nod to both heritage and amusement, the event will feature agricultural and skill-based activities like Muttin Bustin' and Youth Sheep Roping, which have historically captivated audiences. The program also incorporates unique novelty races designed for entertainment and audience engagement, including the Egg & Spoon, Panty Hose Race, Boot Race and Bat & Bucket.
The competitive spirit will be evident in the speed and agility events, which include progressive challenges such as Training Poles, Open Poles, Training Barrels, Youth Barrels, Open Barrels, the precision-focused Rescue Race, and the high-speed One Barrel Speed event. Teamwork and horsemanship will be highlighted in Team Roping.
Concessions will be available on-site for the convenience of attendees. Specific details regarding spectator admission will be provided at the gate.
