Vivian Anderson McCarter 

Vivian Anderson McCarter, age 64, of the Hermitage Springs Community in Clay County, TN passed away Friday Morning, December 1, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. Funeral Services for Vivian Anderson McCarter were conducted Monday morning, December 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Lanny Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Browning Cemetery. Jason Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Eric Birdwell, Kelly McCarter, Casey Perdue, & Jason Halcomb served as pallbearers.

Vivian Anderson McCarter was born December 10, 1958 in Jackson County, TN, one of three siblings born to Marie Collins Anderson of the Pine Hill Community in Clay Couty, TN and the late Garth Anderson. On May 14, 1983, she married the love of her life Gary Dean McCarter who preceded her in death on October 14, 2020. They shared over 37 wonderful years together. Vivian worked as a certified lab tech for Monroe County Medical Center as well as in Celina and Lebanon and was a member of the Walton Chapel Church of Christ in Lafayette.

Surviving relatives include: besides her mother, Marie include: daughter and son-in-law, Tennie & Jonathan Carver of Red Boiling Springs; son and daughter-in-law, William “Buddy” & Shelly Head of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Thatcher Carver, Dalten Wix, Will Head, & Madi Head; sisters, Marcia Anderson of the Hermitage Springs Community, Kathy Anderson Bohanan & husband, Teddy of Red Boiling Springs; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Linda & Roger Perdue; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darriel McCarter all of the Hermitage Springs Community, Jerry & Janet McCarter of Smithville.

Anderson &sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Nola Cherry 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nola Cherry, were held, Sunday, December 3, 2023, in the Chapel of Upton-Hay Funeral Home with Nathan Sherrell officiating and interment followed in the Unionhill Cemetery. James Franklin, Dale Franklin, Tyler Thompson, Ronnie Smith, Jackie Jenkins, and Denzil Cherry served as pallbearers. Honorary included Ronnie Wilmouth.

Mrs. Nola Cherry, age 96, of Whitleyville, TN passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Monroe County Medical Center.

She was born on Sunday, October 16, 1927, to the late Aubrey and Onie (Moss) Carter. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her spouse, Taylor Cherry; son, James Louie Cherry; brothers, Jim, Dallas, and Willard Carter; and sister, Nova Clements.

She was faithful in her religion, attended Unionhill Church of Christ. She would ask nearly every day if it was church day. She loved her church family and thoroughly enjoyed when the younger boys would lead the singing.

Nola was a housewife after moving back to Tennessee in 1951 from Indiana. There she was employed

outside the home at Stokelys. She enjoyed visiting, she was a socializer, and had a fetish for photos. Surviving relatives include:  her grandson, James Franklin; daughter-in-law, Nancy Cherry; sisters, Roselean Wilmouth and Ellen Shelton; as well as a host of friends and neighbors that will mourn her passing.

The Upton-Hay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bart Jackson Cunningham

Bart Jackson Cunningham age 76 of Moss, TN passed away on November 13, 2023 in Overton County Health and Rehab.

Bart was born on August 13, 1947 to the late Clark and Mandy Cunningham. He retired from Twin Lakes Telephone in 2002 after working 30 years. Bart served on the Clay County Election Commission for several years and was a member of the Midway Church of Christ.

Surviving relatives include: his wife Carolyn Scott Cunningham of Celina, son, Justin Cunningham of Celina, two grandchildren, Eliza Cunningham and Adleigh Cunningham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mitchel Cunningham.

Visitation was held  on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023 from 9 am to 1:30 pm at Clay County Funeral Home. Graveside services was held  on  Wednesday at 2 pm at Macedonia Cemetery located on Moss Arcot Rd in Moss with Bro. Craig Ogletree officiating.

Clay County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
