Water Rescue Successful

Posted

On October 29 a call came into the Sheriff’s Office reporting a missing boater. It was discovered two adults were in a sinking boat on the river.

The Rescue team launch boats from Donaldson Park while the EMA director launched a drone from the Cumberland River Bridge to locate the missing persons.

The first 911 call came in from one of the people on the sinking boat, but the location could not be found from pinging the cell phone nor was the person able to describe where on the river they were. Another 911 call came from a resident stating they could hear someone yelling for help in the river in their backyard.

After receiving the second call the rescue team was able to find the boat and rescue the passengers. They were transported to Donaldson Park where ambulances were waiting to treat the pair for hyperthermia, from there they were transported to Livingston Regional Hospital.
