Winton Young Honored

At the November meeting of the County Commission Winton was honored for his 25 years on the County Commission. 

The commission approved 2 notaries in the county. They also approved a resolution on TDEC issues contact advisories as well as the lowering the speed limit on Terrapin Ridge to 15 miles per hour. 

The commission passed a resolution and approved the budget for a settlement agreement and release between the city and county for the Clay EMS. The county will pay the city just over $12,600 and as soon as both mayors sign the agreement the EMS saga will come to a close. 

During the meeting the commission approved the budget amendments for the Clay County General fund and the Clay County Courthouse Jail Maintenance.

The commission also voted to appoint James King and Daniel Strong the E911 board, Derrick Scott, Dorthey Forney, Carol Rettig and Liz Boles to the Parks and Recreation board.  Louis Turner will continue as the Clay County Complex Park Director and Kyle Haney will be the EMA Director. 

In a six to four vote the commission awarded Celina Market the Gas bid. Celina Market came in with a better price than Happy Sack. 

The commission also took the time to applaud the Clay County Solid Waste Department to meeting the 25 percent recycling goal set by the state. 

The next meeting of the Clay County Commission will be December 4 at 6:30pm.
